Our suicide prevention trainings teach you how to recognize when someone is in crisis and connect them to help.

ASIST features powerful audiovisuals, discussions, and simulations. At a LivingWorks ASIST workshop, you’ll learn how to:

  • Prevent suicide by recognizing signs, providing a skilled intervention, and developing a safety plan to keep someone alive.

 

LivingWorks ASIST trainees make their communities safer from suicide by providing life-saving interventions. They’re a vital resource that trainees in connector programs—such as LivingWorks safeTALK—can call to help others.

safeTALK prepares anyone 15 or older to become a suicide-alert helper. Over the course of their training, safeTALK participants will learn to:

  • Notice and respond to situations where suicidal thoughts might be present

  • Recognize that invitations for help are often overlooked

  • Move beyond the common tendency to miss, dismiss, and avoid suicide

  • Apply the TALK steps: Tell, Ask, Listen, and KeepSafe

  • Know community resources and how to connect someone with thoughts of suicide to them for further help

QPR

Question, Persuade and Refer

Just like CPR, QPR is an emergency response to someone in crisis and can save lives. You'll learn:

  • How to Question, Persuade and Refer someone who may be suicidal

  • How to get help for yourself or learn more about preventing suicide

  • The common causes of suicidal behavior

  • The warning signs of suicide

  • How to get help for someone in crisis
